My Ds ASD 2.6 needs help with fine motor skills and self help. I've been looking for a big screw toy that Ds can practise unscrewing and screwing but cant find one anyone know where I can get one?

Also where might I find little pots/tubes with lids for putting different smells in for sensory programme. They must be quite small really.

get all your firned to collect the small jam pots you can buy in supermarkets - like the ones you get in hotels. They would be great for your purposes.

They have quite a few different shapes as well as sizes.

Something like the twist and turn toy on this page? There's a lot of nice/useful toys on that site.

Sainsburys sell little pots eg about 50ml capacity in the toiletries section - for travel purposes.

There are two threading toys from Rompa but as is usual for SN toys, they cost a fortune!

Why does special needs equipment/toys cost so much? Ive seen similar items some for NT children and some for SN and the difference between the prices is

You can get sensory room typle lights and bubble tubes in Argos for a fraction of what Rompa charge.

ds2 loved the post box from the ELC.
A key to turn to open & close the door, hard plastic letters that slide inside hard envelopes, also good for fine motor stuff & hand/eye co-ordination.
We also used it for SALT, once he had said or signed the picture he was allowed to post the card.

Looked in shops today but the containers they had were too big and I just wouldn't be able to store them. Really liked the jam jar idea and will ask people to save some for future but had no empties and I don't really eat it.

I keep looking at the ELC post box. I did make my own (Blue peter style) but was a bit flimsy. May hint at family that he might like one.
