9yo ADD and emotional regulation in school

DS diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive) this year, is in Y5, August birthday so is young in year. Just had catch up with teacher and she's getting increasingly concerned that he's still tantruming quite often and having poor social skills with other kids, and now the others are old enough to notice it and start to laugh at him. Sad

He's started medication two months ago, which has helped his focus and work quite a lot, although he still has difficulty remembering to ask when he doesn't know what to do instead of tantruming/sitting there staring into space.

He's OK at home and with homework now, but I think that there's so much else going on at school he still gets a bit distracted and overwhelmed.

Psychologist did say the emotional regulation side should be helped by meds, but takes a while to kick in, but I want to know what else we can do, can anyone recommend books/blogs with good advice?

I do feel worried as he only has 2 years until secondary and he has to learn to manage himself better - and we have to learn how to help him to do that.
