Ds with ASD possibly has Coronavirius and won't eat

Looking for advice regarding Ds who's 15, he's been feeling ill all weekend, but today he has lost most of his sense of taste. Obviously got him tested and will isolate until results.

My issue is he has a really poor relationship with food anyway, very limited eating at the best of times but is now refusing all food because 'it isn't right' but is getting increasingly anxious and agitated because his stomach hurts (hunger pains)

Any tips on how to get him to to eat and any suggestions for food that might taste close to normal with reduce taste.

Thanks

He might have a sore throat too. Ice cream and jelly or yoghurt? Pasta or rice , plain.

Ooh plain pasta is a good idea thanks, he likes his pasta fairly bland anyway so might eat a bowl of it plain.
Yes he does have a sore throat, hoping a friend will be able to pick up some jelly for us tomorrow.
Thanks for the suggestions. Really hoping we get a negative result soon and its just a cold. I think part of the food issue might be him panicking, so hopefully a negative result will calm him down.
If its positive I have no idea how we will cope.

When my colleague had Covid she said the only food she wanted was healthy things like fruit and veg so if he has any favourites maybe try a little of those? It took a few days for her to eat more. As long as he keeps fluids up he'll be ok and hopefully his appetite will pick up.

He's refusing all favourite food because he is scared they won't taste right. Managed to get him to have a crossiant and a cup of tea.
Will just keep his drinks topped up and leave easy snacks on his desk, hopefully that will keep him going.

Is he drinking? A warm drink might help his throat, and perhaps a smoothie made with milk and banana might provide calories?

We got his negative test result back today, luckily only had to wait just over 24hrs. This has massively helped with his anxiety and although he still can't really taste much he knows its probably just because of the common cold and is eating a little here and there now, basically anything that's pretty bland to start with seems okay.

Thanks for all the tips.
