Psychotherapy or counselling for Aspergers Adult

My 22YO Aspie son graduated this year and has been severely affected by Covid in his job hunting. He is now apparently suffering full blown depression. We would like to get him counselling but don't really trust IAPT to get the Autism side of things. Does anyone have recommendations? Can be remote, so location doesn't really matter, though we're in London.
Thanks all.

I realise this is a few months old. PM me if you are still looking for an autism counsellor, I can recommend someone

Thanks, found someone locally but good that you know people for other mumsnetters to approach. Keep well

Glad he found someone. Hope it's helping. I think finding a counsellor who truly understands autism can be a game changer. Best of luck

Hi, I'm in a very similar position to the OP, but am in Ireland. ASD son, same age, all sorts of issues. He probably wouldn't agree to see a counsellor (we've tried several times before and it's never worked out), but we're are getting truly desperate. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Mine is doing very well with his psychotherapist who I got on a generic site but searched it for people expert in ASD. I have only liaised with her a bit myself but he has really benefitted from working with her over a few months now and would recommend. It's £100 a pop though. He does it remotely once a week on Zoom and pays for it via his PIP. If you want her details, PM me.
I also found life coaching via an adult OT was extremely good for him, she was like his personal cheerleeder and I can honestly say she got him his first job by talking him through applications, interviews etc on zoom and just chivvying him along. We can't do it as parents when they are this old, and also it simply undermines them. Whereas if they think they are getting professional life coaching, it's empowering. Again, I can send you those details if you PM.
