Making friends/socializing for 4.5 year old1

Hi all. I have a son who is 4.5 and a few asd traits but was not diagnosed after being evaluated. He does well in a mainstream classroom however he struggles with socializing with same aged peers. He is okay one on one. I need some experiences/advice or recommendations such as books etc to help him. He can share...take turns and read faces pretty well. Its striking up conversations...keeping conversation going ...participating in their game etc he needs help with. He is also not confident in large groups. In smaller groups teacher says he is happier..more talkative and confident. He avoids tbe playground at playtime also as he is not as physically coordinated as tbe other boys and cannot play/roughhouse like them. Even at age 4.5 he is extremely enotionally aware and can read childrens looks and behaviour and get sad and say they dont want to play with him. Please help. Positive stories also welcomed. He starts primary next year and much larger class size and really want to prepare him as best as possible.
