Hi,
I just wanted to find out if any other Mum’s have been in similar situations to me and what help they were able to get.
My DD is almost 2 and for a while I’ve had a feeling that something is off with her development. I recently had a call with a speech therapist who said it sounds like she has a speech and language delay, both expressive and receptive.
Her nursery have now told me she seems to have sensory issues (which I haven’t particularly noticed at home) and also doesn’t make much eye contact with them. Even though she is really good at this at home. They also told me she doesn’t use any words at nursery apart from counting to 10. This was surprising to me as she uses a good amount of words (mostly nouns) at home.
With these things combined I think autism may be a possibility and I’ve basically been up most nights for so long now doing research on what might help her and generally feeling anxious and overwhelmed.
My GP says go with the sit and wait approach which isn’t what I want to be doing right now.
I have got lots of speech techniques to try with her
but I’m not sure what other help I should be looking for.
Also the not talking at nursery is concerning for me - she has seemed ok at this place but I’m thinking is the not talking while she’s there a sign she’s not that comfortable there.
Please let me know if anyone else has experienced similar.
Thanks
