EACH YEAR OAPS GET A HEATING ALLOWANCE TO HELP KEEP THEIR HOMES WARM.
AS A LONE PARENT WITH A DAUGHTER WHOS SEVERELY PHYSICALLY DISABLED I COULDNT UNDERSTAND THAT I GOT NO HEATING ALLOWANCE EVEN THOUGH MY HOUSE IS VERY COLD IN THE WINTER MONTHS AND MY MUM N HER MATES WHO LIVED IN SHELTERED ACCOMMODATION WHERE THE FLATS WERE LIKE THE TROPICS GOT £200 HEATING ALLOWANCE????? THE HEATING COSTS FOR THE SHELTERED FLATS WAS ABOUT £50 A YEAR IN WITH THEIR RENTS.
THE RESIDENTS USED TO DO THEIR XMAS SHOPPING WITH THE HEATING MONEY.!!!!
I DIDN'T THINK THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE IT AWAY FROM THE OAPS BUT I DID THINK THAT THERE ARE SOOO MANY DISABLED ADULTS/KIDS WHO WERE JUST AS VONERABLE AND NEEDY WHO GOT NO SUCH ALLOWANCE PEEPS WITH LIMITED MOVEMENT ETC WHO COULD'NT KEEP WARM SURELY THEY WERE JUST AS DESERVING???.
THERE IS A PETITION TO THE PRIME MINISTER ASKING FOR A HEATING ALLOWANCE FOR DISABLED PEEPS PLEASE LET ME KNOW OF YOUR VIEWS AND SIGN THE PETITION ON: www.fightforheating.com
MANY THANX.

I'm next to you on the list!
Ironically, my confirmation email came up next to an ad that started "now that the cold weather is here..." .

Signed and bumped

needmorecoffee · 02/10/2007 13:03

Signing it now. Roger Berry MP has tabled several motions trying to get heating allowance for disabled poeple and failed everytime. We're on benefits as DH had to give up work to care for dd who is severely physically disabled and can't keep warm. we can only affird to heat one room for her so she is pretty much confined. Yet the inlaws who's pension is triple what us as a family of 6 live on, get heating allowance. Sheesh.

Gmakes3 · 02/10/2007 13:24

Thanks my DH is disabled and quite agree have signed up.

Just signed as well. In the same boat as a lot of yous, cant work because of sons disability. Tried to get a childminder for him and was told it would be over double the norm, as he needs more care. So would be worse off finacially, the system is so unfair.

Have signed and passed it on to everyone in my email address book!

GREAT STUFF! .
I DON'T KNOW WHY ITS TAKEN THIS LONG FOR PEEPS TO LOBBY PARLAIMENT [LOCAL GROUPS ETC] AS I'VE SAID I DON'T BEGRUDGE OAPS WHO ARE NEEDY GETTING HELP WITH HEATING BUT AS NMC SAYS SOME OF THE PENSIONERS CAN WELL AFFORD TO HEAT THEIR HOMES I DON'T KNOW IF THE ALLOWANCE IS ACTUALLY MEANS TESTED?.
I MENTIONED HOW EXPENSIVE IT WAS TO HEAT MY HOUSE LAST YEAR TO MY SOCIAL WORKER, MY LOCAL SNAP GROUP AND ANYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN AND WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THATS WHY I GET CARERS ALLOWANCE???? MANY ELDERLY PEEPS GET CARERS ALLOWANCE AND THE HEATING ALLOWANCE???!!!
NOW CAN WE PLZ HAVE A BIG, HUGE, GRATEFUL CHEER FROM ALL YOU PARENTS/CARERS FOR THE SUPPORT THAT THE GOVERNMENT GIVES US IN RECOGNITION OF THE JOB THAT WE DO AS CARERS!!!!!!!!!!
