He is now 8, and there have been concerns with his socialisation & organisation skills since he was at pre school.
he finally got to see a pead in May, who referred him onto a speech therapist, OT, and child psychologist, but I had to chase it all up because I hadn't heard anymore.

The SENCO at the school said she would chase it all up for me, which she did earlier this week, and now this appointment has come through for 11th October.

I am pleased things are finally moving, but feel a bit churned up at the same time.

Can anyone give me some idea of what might happen when he is seen by this child psychologist?

Will we get more of an idea of DS's likely dx?

I went with ds, 12, to see a psychologist in May for three sessions, she asked us about what had brought us there and we all talked about behaviour and how it impacts on daily and school life. I went over stuff that had been a worry for many years as well. She referred us for further assessment for asd after 2 sessions, I went on my own on 3rd.
What I can tell you from that is that she made us both feel comfortable, showed ds the letter about him that his teacher had written, and was extremely sympathetic.
And it gave us an idea that they would be looking for asd at further assessment, which i imagine will parallel the speech and ot you mention.
But she did emphasise that he doesnt have a dx yet and he may not get one, so not to jump ahead of the gun.
We are going back on monday for the first of 4 sessions over the month and I'm a bit nervous myself.
Hope this is some help, and you know someone read your post.

Thank you for sharing your experience, sasquatch. I hope all goes well for you on Monday.

I have been pushing to get this done, as I know DS has difficulties, but now the appointment has been confirmed, I can't help but feel rather anxious.

I know DS needs a dx, but I am dreading it.
