Your dream holiday (with ASD little one)

Hi all!
If money was pretty much no object and you could or have had your dream holiday, with a child on the spectrum, what would it be/was or what would/has worked best for you?!

We used to go camping in France. We picked Eurocamp/Keycamp quiet sites with a pool and slides close to the beach (again quiet) took lots of toys etc from home, food that we knew he would eat, and he had a great time as did our two other boys.

The weather was more reliable than here, wine was cheap, everyone was chilled, and we had a great time too.

You don't need to spend a lot of money.

We went all over the place. We went to Brittany the first time to try it out so not too far as we were already travelling from the Midlands. The weather was a bit ropey though so in subsequent years we went further south and the weather was much better.

We booked through Eurocamps and we never had a bad campsite. We started off booking tents then as the kids got older and bigger we upgraded to a caravan.

The Vendee is nice. The beach at St Jean de Monts is huge. We also went to the South West of France (Gironde and Languedoc)and once to Argeles sur Mer in the south.

We normally book a villa with a pool somewhere with grandparents to help out. We prefer to be away from close neighbours as our son can be quite noisy.

We really like Crete but have also taken our son with ASD to Portugal and France.

We do self catering in the UK. No issues then with finding the 3 or so beige foods he will eat! Also he can still have his routines around screen time which are very important to him.

The only holiday we've really enjoyed of was renting a cottage in Northumberland and going on day trips in the local area. If money were no object I'd look to do that again but with a cottage right on the coastline rather than five miles inland, near to a quite beach we could just walk to.

Sounds similar to us - we find lodges/self catering in UK and Villa’s abroad to be best at the minute. Holidays can be fun but hard going though!

We really struggle with holidays. DC likes to climb out of windows, open doors etc. At home we keep the windows and doors locked with keys removed but it's hard to find holiday places with these. Most doors have thumb locks for fire reasons which are totally unsuitable for us. We also need a completely enclosed outside area with no bodies of water. I'd love to go to a private villa or cottage somewhere warm with a locked outdoor pool.

Can recommend SC in Normandy, easy to get to, great beaches, nice wine.
We go out for lunch (ds eats chips, we go gourmet) then can have fussy food of choice for kids at 7 while we have wine cheese charcuterie it works
