My little boy is almost two (where has the time gone. we had a biggish birthday/ naming day party last year and this year we were going to invite close family only to a party at my mums. As it turns out even this number of people is too many for my mums so were going to have it eslewhere.

No we have a bigger venue we want to invite a few of DS nursery friends. ds has severe delay and can sit and roll around and his friend from nursery is pretty much the same level. His other friends are NT.

Does anyone has any suggestions of what sort of entertainment could be enjoyed by both my ds and his friend aswell as their NT friends....I was thinking something musical maybe with instruments but open to suggestions.

bouncy castle or ball pool with support? music sounds good too - could some of DS's friends make shakers - film canisters/milk cartons plus rice, decorate with stickers? Would ds be able to hold and shake if helped to make one/one made for him?

ball pool...why didnt I think of that....! ds and his friend could use that as well as the others....!

I might also give the music idea some more thought as my ds LOVES anything musical.

Thanks

could you maybe have free play with ball pool and age appropriate toys most of the time, then a structured singing session at the end with shakers etc? Could DS be helped to do the actions to some simple songs - heads and shoulders etc.

Music might be good , do you have a Jo Jingles or similar music toddler group who could either run it or they or nursery recommend similar ? Alternatively someone from a Tumbletots or Gymboree type group may do parties - We ahd a Fittots franchsoie lady at one do ds' friends' 2nd in a churchhall, brought some soft play type stuff, balls and ran simple games like parachute based ones.

Would he like a magician? Our Portage group had one who comes to do the entertainment for the summer picnic, and he is wonderful.

He does very simple tricks, with some audience participation! He also makes balloon animals etc.

Hope you have a lovely day

how about sensory activities - my ds1 just went to a special needs playgroup and i took his 2 yr old nt siblings too - it was brill - there was a tent with different kinds of materials to feeland squishy things and spa lights (toysrus do pool lights now) , handpainting with aprons of course, musical instrument corner, trays of rice and glitter to do 'sand painting' in,
'clean' soil with farm animals and tractors in a bath, plastic sea animals in a bath of custard, they had cold snow stuff - but where you'd get that from i don't know, spaghetti dyed with food colourings, blocks of ice thawing with toy cars and so on frozen into then, dough to squish

as long as the parents know it will be a 'messy play' party it could be lots of fun.

One of dd's friends (they're both severely delayed) actually had a disco with DJ for his 3rd birthday - we couldn't make it, but dd normally loves that sort of thing.
