Sensory or cause and effect toys but for a 9 yr old?

Reposted from chat as I remembered this board exists (it no longer shows in my active convos but don't know why as it used to and is still set to!)

Anyway, I have a very bored 9 yr old (with ASD) who LOVES that sort of cause and effect/building pathways toy. I also have some of his DLA unspent as all his usual activities and therapies have been cancelled, so am trying to find stuff to spend it on for him to use at home!

We already have a giant marble run that lifts the marbles back up, a laser maze which you build with mirrors, and an Aquaplay canal set.

He also has sensory processing disorder and so suggestions of sensory equipment would be welcome too - we already have a peanut ball, sensory swing, trampoline, and body sock. He loves spinning and balancing.

Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is the lego niche where people build amazing ball lifting, pushing, collecting etc automated machines. There's a klutz book with a few pieces called Lego Gadgets and I think there are other sets and guides.

Gravitrax? Bit like a marble run but more complex. Magnatiles building sets or the galt science sets?
