Just wondering if anybody can give me advice ahead of specialist appointment next week.
Background,
My Daughter is 8 years old and has suffered with 'glue ear' since she very little. We decided to opt for bone conduction hearing aid rather than grommets until she was 7 in a hope she would naturally grow out of the glue ear. She has never once had an ear infection nor had any ear pain. We opted for Grommets when she was 7 as her hearing was getting progressively worse rather than improving.
She had her grommets fitted and adenoids removed end of 2018. By April 2019 (5 months post operation) Hearing test were showing her hearing had gone back to below average. Both grommets were still in place but completely blocked. (used drops daily but no difference was made) November 2019 she had another audiology test which showed her grommets were still in and still completely blocked and hearing test shows moderately severe hearing loss. Audiology made a refferal for the specialist to see her again and insisted she go back to the bone conduction hearing aid in the interim.
She has her specialist appointment next week where i presume they are going to say they want to remove her grommets and replace with new set as they have been in for nearly 18 months now.
Is any one or has anyone been in this situation? Its a rare one even for audiologists as she has never had a single ear infection.
I really could do with some information on what options there may be so I can go to this appointment a little more aware of the situation.
Thanks in advance
