Towcester for HFA?

Hi
Anyone live in the Towcester area with Aspergers /HFA child? We are thinking of moving to the area and looking for primary schools (mainstream) sympathetic to HFA children for my 7 year old son. He’s extremely bright, but struggles socially and at his current (very aspirational) London primary school is getting very stressed and has started hitting other children, having major meltdowns etc. He’s in year 3 and has really struggled to settle with this year since September.

We are looking to move to South Northants/North Bucks as it’s close to family and would love to get in touch with local parents with HFA experience. I don’t really know where to start on schools and have been a bit burnt by our current school experience!
Currently applying for ECHP but have been advised by psychs that a change in school to somewhere less pressured would help him a great deal.
Ideally we’d like a nurturing state school that understands and can help with social communication difficulties and understands sensory issues/ need for movement breaks etc.

Hi There Zowieziggy,

We're sorry to hear your son has struggled to settle this year; it must be a difficult time for you all.

We can't offer any expert advice around schools in your potential new area but we hope our post will give this a bump for you.

Do feel free to post on Mumsnet Local in your area in case anyone there can offer you any useful advice.

Good luck with your search.
