Car seat ideas for ds3 please? (he keeps escaping)

have placed this in SN although happy for any ideas, in Sn because ds's inability to understand us being angry at him / communicate is a key factor in this.

So.... when we are out and about he escapes and wanders arund the back of the Espace. he sits there becuase his screeches make dh jump dangerously when he's driving, ut that means no adult can sit with him (I can't drive atm, and I'm too big to squeeze in!)

Any ideas re restraints, communications, whatever gratefully received!

Thank you! i did think of a harness, but am a bit worried that if we were in an accidnt, he would be harder to retireive- though I suppose thats better than pushed through the wndscreen

Ds has a Crelling harness in the car. He has managed to get his arms out a few times which isn't ideal but he's never managed to get out of it completely, and not for want of trying! Ours came with a cutting tool in case of an emergency but I know that relies on one of us being conscious to be able to tell rescuers it's there as we can't leave it anywhere ds can get it. That does worry me a bit but as you say, better than him being loose in the car which would make driving totally impossible.

You can get those seatbelt clip covers which are supposed to stop them undoing the clip - is he in an adult belt over a booster seat or a younger child seat? I remember a thread about this a while ago and there was quite a sturdy adult clip cover posted. I will try and find it when I have a minute.

hi

i have a 5 year old autistic son who we have nicknamed houdini because he can get out of anything, in the end we bought a child seat from argos with a 3 point harness gives u a little extra time to stop him escaping and in the end they sometimes stop.

i also have some info somewhere and will try and find it out for you it is a company that only deals with safety issues.
