Does EHCP hours extend to after school clubs?

So Dd is in year 6. Has a condition that means her health can become critical very quickly. She’s in mainstream school With full time support.
She really wants to attend a couple of after school clubs but school are saying they can’t cover these for her. So in other words, if she wishes to attend, then I have to go with her.

Now I don’t mind doing that, as I feel it will enrich dd by going. However I don’t think it’s fair on dd to have her mum hanging around. Not good for street cred as well as independence!!

Are school supposed to cover after school clubs? Or is a child with full time ehcp cover basically not included in the clubs?!

The cover is for school hours only.

Ask the school if you could pay a suitably qualified person to be there if you don't want to do it yourself.

I run a youth group and we have a paid carer comes for one of the young people.

If I were you, I’d ask children’s social services for an assessment of need under S17 of The Children’s Act 1989. Also ask for a carer’s assessment for yourself.

Social Services could provide a carer for DD to attend a few after school clubs.

I meant an assessment of need for DD.

Oh that’s great thank you. We have a disability social worker, so I will ask her. Many thanks
