Should I wake my kids in the middle of the night for the toilet?

Dear mums Flowers

I have 4 kids under the age of 6.

The youngest has just turned 2 and I would leave him.in nappy all through the night.

But the other 3, I want them to stop using nappies at night; Two of them are autistic and are aged 5 and 4.

I tried cutting/reducing their water intake after 4 pm but they still have wet nappies ...

I am quite reluctant about the possibility of waking them in the middle of the night to take them to the toilet...

I think this would disturb their sleep and not healthy...

And if i have to wakr them up...should I do it all in the same time? Or leave 1 hr or 30 mints interval between the 3 kids...to avoid tantrums...etc Hmm

I am confused Confused

What should I do...please advise me...Hmm

Advice we have had is not to wake them as it does nothing to train the brain in how to do this for themselves.

The body needs to mature and start producing a hormone that will stop wee production overnight.

I would say don't worry about it. If needs be get referral for continence team but they will likely think its too early to be concerned. Are they dry in the day time?

I have stafted 2 nights ago... very hard work.. so basically they go to bed at 8 pm with their nappies on...
4 hrs later...around 12...midnight u wake them up for toilet...

Then around 5 am....again Confused

They go back to sleep easily...but toilet is downstairs they have to walk....

May be i should wake them.up only once around 4 am or 2 am....

.and reduce water intake at 3 pm...

Wat do u think???

Soumia I wouldn't limit drinks at 3pm, that's too early.

Look on Eric website, regarding nighttime training. Really useful info.

Could you get a potty for the bedroom / landing? To save children walking downstairs in the night to start with.

I got ds a potty chair when he was toilet training, he uses toilet now but recently he sat on the potty chair and he still fits on it, he's almost 6!

He still wears nappies for bed he's only been out of nappies in the day for 6 months and isn't ready for night aswell so not something I'm thinking about for the minute.
