Just back from a lovely holiday in Weymouth and we fell in love with Dorset. We have an autistic DS who loves the sea so have been talking for a while to move... We think we've found our place in christchurch. DH and I will have to find work too.
We also have a DD who's about to start primary. I wonder if anyone knows or has moved to christchurch with young children and if they know of any good mainstream and special schools and areas to live.
We will be visiting again to scope out the nice roads, but plan to rent there and rent our house in London for a year to get settled before we buy.
Will post also on the local Dorset site.
TIA

If you look on dorsetforyou website you'll find info on local schools. Like many places there is a lack of special schools places and none i can think of actually in Christchurch, although obviously you'll be able to get transport to another school in Dorset. I would have a look at some of the special schools and have a ring around to see what is available. It's a lovely part of the world to be in!

Hi @Looking2Move
Just saw your message. I live in Bournemouth and have been looking for specialist schools for my daughter (currently in mainstream) and also talking to other SN parents. Portfield is well spoken of locally - it is a private, charity run ASD specialist school in Christchurch. There is a school called Springwood in Bournemouth which also has a good reputation. Christchurch is a lovely place to live. I hope moving goes well for you
