LA asking who to consult when deciding whether to assess for EHCP

Posting here for traffic...

The LA have all the various reports OT, Speech and Language, Ed psych, and lots of others sent with original ask to assess paperwork.

They have given 15 days for me to tell them who to consult to inform decision on whether they assess.

The thing is I guess a lot of these folk on the medical side have no idea about EHCPs (I had to explain to one consultant what they were!).

Ed psych and speech and language do know - in fact they brought up EHCP before I did when we had meetings.

So would you say to LA -ask everyone on the list if DS needs this assessment, or just a couple of professionals? School are supporting and have been asked for evidence.

They should ask everyone if they're going to do a proper assessment. The Code of Practice says that, if they issue an EHCP, they must specify all your child's needs, and they can't do that unless they get the right information. But be prepared for the LA to ignore you, most of them do.
