As it's the end of the school year, Ds' school have had a shuffle round and are offering Ds a place in their Autistic base.
I don't know whether to accept this place as it seems to contradict what they said when he started.
They said as Ds had mild ASD, they didn't want to put him in the base as it would pull him back and they wanted to learn behaviour from the other kids in his class.
Someone tell me to get over myself, it's not a step backwards, he's getting the best support and I'm over-reacting.

How did he cope this past year?
Might it be worth giving the place a try, and reassess at Christmas?

He's only started in January and the diference in him is remarkable. His speech has noticebly improved, behaviour better etc.
The only problems they have in his class is when he's having a tantrum, they can't always spare someone for 1-1 (3 adults to 9/10 kids)
In the base he would get 1-1 maybe 2 kids to I adult depending on any moving/leaving/starting etc.

It's a difficult decision.
What is your instinctive choice?

I'm leaning towards your first response. It couldn't hurt to try it, could it?
I could always have him put back in the mixed classes.

I think that sounds like a sensible decision.
I hope he settles in well, and enjoys it.
