Does your ASD Daughter say hurtful things to you?

I try to let it wash over me, but DD (8) can say such hurtful things, often aimed at me. She can’t tell me that she loves me (can her Dad) - I am so exhausted from everything at the moment. Very argumentative and definite PDA traits.

I’m struggling, so sick of trying to be strong.
My DH is struggling too

I work with ASD children and although it's not the same they can say some really hurtful things.

I'm fat and old. My colleague was asked if she was growing a moustache on purpose!

Keep strong. Flowers

Oh and to answer your question...

Yea on a daily basis. But I genuinely believe that she has not got the foggiest idea of what she’s saying.

What’s she is actually saying is ‘I’m hurting help me’. But doesn’t make it easier.

Thanks all. The moustache comment did make me chuckle a little! 😬 Waiting for that one from my DD

She has started swearing now. She had a public meltdown sadly yesterday, which was horrendous - first time she shouted swear words loudly in public

She also directs them at us now. Heard it at school. What is the best way to handle swearing for someone on the spectrum (High Functioning)?

OP my son is the same every other word at the moment is F this F that. Like your DD he says horrible things to his dad he does know he is doing it though but my DH does wade in and try to talk to him when he is busy in his own little world or writing his lists and duties (his obsession!!) My DH takes it so personally. DS used to scream full on really really loud at home or in middle of street this has now been replaced by swearing!! How is your DD at school?? My DS loves school and the routine and structure and he doesn't struggle at all academically and he gets top marks without even trying so school is his place to shine and he is sooo well behaved but lets all his emotions out at home and we get the brunt of it!!!

OhDear2200 · 24/04/2019 21:59

Oh yes the swearing!

F this and F that. Her current favourite is ‘you fucking twit’.

Makes me laugh.

Oh and ‘you git’

The first time she said that me and DH looked at each other as if to say ‘who uses git?’
