Wrinkly tum, hugs to you and to your dd and I guess in a way I feel a bit cross for you that your dd has got to 19 months and it is only you pushing that has got some idea of diagnosis. Why is it always down to the mummies to point out the obvious? I know right know you probably feel floored by this all but you will absorb it and it won't be as scary. My dd was only diagnosed a couple of months ago so it's all very fresh for us, one thing I don't think many of us realise is how wide-ranging CP is and that it can be very mild in some cases. I know your dd hasn't been officially diagnosed yet but there is a great early years booklet available from Scope which explains about CP in a very accesible way. It's funny because when she was first diagnosed I could barely say the words but know I'm cheerfully telling strangers in the swing park that dd has cerebral palsy and it doesn't cut me in two the way it first did. myds2 has mild CP & although we were expecting the dx it totally floored me, once i'd got over the so many mixed emotions I can honestly say that getting the dx has helped ds enourmously.
He was born 3 months prem & so had a physio since birth but once he had the dx immediately his physio, put together more of a long term plan, OT were so supportive,parent CP workshops so helpful, we automatically went on the list for SALT assessment rather than waiting to see if language was a problem.
He is nearly 5 & he is very mobile, although his physio thought it unlikely he would walk.. he does unaided..
Really as the others have said CP is such a wide ranging umbrella term, use the benifits of the dx to get your dd the help she needs but part from those two letters she is your same gorgeous little girl.

ds2 has cp, i remember v well how i felt when i found out

it isnt the end of the world even if it feels like it now, i promise

Dp has gone out drinking with friends(I think it has hit him harder than he will admit as dd is a real daddies girl and always saves the most gorgeous smiles exclusively for him,as well as babbling dadada at him,has never said mama)and ds has gone to gps so I am here with dd.
