Has anyone got home education (not elective) agreed in EHCP?

This is what i would like to do. I don’t want it to be elective ie no deregistration letter from us, but something that the LA agree with us as being right for DD. We have good reasons. Has anyone managed this and if so, how have you gone about wording in EHCP (naming school etc)? I’m not particularly worried about direct payments for tutoring (I guess that battle would be too huge), I just don’t want then to sign EHCP off elective HE and have them wash hands of DD.

Bump
Does the lack of replies mean everyone who is doing HE due to SEN is deregistered from school?

You mean EOTAS? It’s normally short term, with the EHCP naming a type of school, eg mainstream.
Are you hoping for home tutors?

EOTAS is unpopular due to isolation, tuition being sparse yet interfering with accessing groups due to timing.

EHE normally means there’s an EHCP naming a school type, but the place isn’t taken up. It can’t be named. It does t end.

We deregistered and chose not to apply

Thanks Sloe. It took me a while to work out “Education Other Than At School”, but I got there Smile.

So both options just state “mainstream” for school? What is it that makes EOTAT usually short term? I’m guessing cost? Yes, I am hoping for tutors but guess that LA would fight against paying, so would self fund. The main thing leading me to EOTAS is possibility that DD’s health may improve in future so she could manage some (part time) school.

I work for a LA SEN team. When writing EHCPs for home education we would always state which setting or type of setting we would recommend but that parents have chosen EHE. The LA I work for would never agree that EHE is the best provision.

Our LA also won’t name it (and a recent court case made it near impossible to do so). It’s short term as it’s meant to be part of transition into the appropriate school named. Normally it’s reserved for children too ill to attend
