My son goes to a private central London school. I’ve struggled with him in this school for 3 years now. Started with him getting warnings and detentions for no having his cap, losing his tracksuit...
He was teased in the school for being overweight and small.. the school did nothing about this. This I believe led to self esteem issues and subsequently behavioural problems, anxiety and not wanting to go to school, clowning in classroom to be popular etc.
In the last 6 months I’ve started to think that maybe he has ADHD. I mentioned this to them myself and prior to this none of the teachers or the head ever said that there might be a possibility of ADHD.
I spoke to the head and I am trying to arrange to see someone for looking into a diagnosis.
He did well in all his school exams last term but I’m pretty sure that they have not given him a good report for the senior schools he applied for.
His current school which is non-selective and normally takes all the children in the upper school led us to believe that he would have a place for the upper school but they just told us that they will not accept him in the upper school!
We are left with no school and feel very let down by his present school.
However we need to find him a school that suits him.
Apart from short attention span and misbehaving in class sometimes such as shouting out the answers and not waiting his turn, or clowning in class, he is completely normal and a bright boy.
I don’t think a special needs school will be the right place for him.
Can anyone recommend a good private school in a London, or Greater London?
Thank you!
