I've made some notes, about the bits of the report I think are wide of the mark, and about questions to ask.

Well, it went as well as could be expected and the dx is HFA. The paed seemed to feel the prognosis was better than the SALT did - paed felt he probably would not need a statement, SALT thought he might need one but we would have to play down his abilities in order to get one. We'll have a meeting about that early next year and see how his language develops in the meantime.

I asked about the distinction between Aspergera and HFA. The SALT said it was down to whether there was any language delay. The paed said that people with HFA are happier because those with Aspergers want friends but go about it wrong whereas those with HFA aren't really bothered about having friends. She painted a future for DS as a boffin happy being a boffin, which is fine by us.

I'm glad it went well. I love the sound of your little boffin.
