Bit of a wierd one. Ds crying breaks my heart.

Ds has been a bit strange since he got in from school. Stuffed his face quite happily as usual but after being home for about an hour, he burst into tears. Not angry tears, upset from being told off etc but proper very upset, distressed tears.
He crawled into my lap and bawled for a good 15 minutes.
It breaks my heart to know that something have really upset him but there is no way that he can tell me what it is and I have no way of figuring it out.
Just need to say really as it usually makes me cry when he does this. And there's not a damn thing I can do about it.

It's not a common thing. He usually cries because he's hurt or I've told him off!
But this was full on shaking sobs. That's the part that hurts the most, I don't know what to do to make him feel better.

ds1 does this sometimes. Really weird, Like he's overcome with emotion...... I remember saying to him once "it would be so much easier if you could talk" and he started howling, I felt awful!

ds2 does this, although much less frequently lately as his speech has improved. I think sometimes he just gets overwhelmed. When he is at home he'll let us cuddle him but he has done it at the childminders & she found it really upsetting as he wouldn't let her comfort him.
He usually stops as suddenly as he starts.

DS2 does this too, though it's not usually full scale crying - more a sort of silent welling up, lip trembling kind of crying. He looks really sad though and there's no obvious reason for it at all.

My ds started doing this and it was out of character for him. We assumed it was just a break through in his self awareness and the 'wind-down' after school.

He has stopped doing it so much now, just when tired and overwhelmed.

But it still breaks your heart! in fact, it breaks my heart when any of my kids cry, even the grown up, left home ones.

PC - you say there is not a thing you can do about it, but there is, and you are doing it, you are there for him and you are cuddling him that means alot. Not much help i know but i just thought id pass on that thought, if you see what i mean.

Weirdly- ds1 did this last night. Howled and howled at bedtime. had to leave him in the end..... (full moon???)
