I am a fully qualified and registered osteopath and am offering free osteopathic treatment to children with Downs Syndrome at my practice in Barnsbury N1 (Islington), on Tuesday mornings. Tel. Emily Alexander on 0207 609 4449 for further information or to make an appointment (Backworking Osteopathic Practice www.backworking.co.uk). The practice room is accessed via a flight of stairs.

Wish we lived nearer, my dd is 2.9 and has DS. Tuesdays are free at the moment but unfortunately we are too far away-Kent!!!
I am sure someone can take you up on your offer though.

I realise that my reply hasn't appeared. I expect it's on another thread somewhere else..! My message said - I feel bad about posting this info so broadly but I didn't have much luck with the DSA when I asked them where the best place to inform parents is. The fact that I can only treat patients at my place of work seemed to put them off disseminating this info). I thought I'd put it here and then parents in the area can choose for themselves whether or not they take up a session! Dingle - you are very welcome to bring your DD although I know it's probably prohibitively far. Eidsvold - I think you may be a little toooo far

Backworking,I will spread the word with the DSA group down here, I know a few parents from the Dartford area, so that wouldn't be too bad to travel.
How long does a session last? How often would you recommend treatment? (in general!!)

Thanks Dingle - I'll have to check on the parking situation! The first session will last about an hour as I'll need to ask Mum/Dad about her health during pregnancy, the birth and any issues medical or otherwise with the DD /DS etc before examination and treatment. Sessions after that last up to 30 mins. It all depends on the the DD/DS responds to the treatment but a very rough general idea is once a week for approx. 3 treatments and then once a month.....it does depend how quickly the child responds though! The idea is to 'get on top of things' and then maintain it!
