Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

How do you cope when your nt child goes to sleepovers etc and your sn child doesn't???

My dd is nearly 8 and has Aspergers.
She is very sociable and does have friends and does do weekly activities etc.
However ds who is 9.5 is very sociable, has lots of friends and is always invited to parties, tea, sleep overs etc.
Dd is starting to mention that she never gets invited for sleepovers and tbh I can't think of any realy girly friends she has that she could iykwim.
I just feel so sorry for her. Everytime ds goes off she cries.
Just wish I had the answer really. More of a rant here tbh

in answer to your title .......badly.
I remeber dd getting really upset once when ds went to stay at a friends house and she wanted to go to(she was friends with the sister) made me want to cry

Your poor dd 2shoes. It's so unfair isn't it?

Have you ever had Dd's friends over to yours? It might be a case of parents being unreasonably nervous about handling any specific difficulties she may have... having their's over might help them see how you handle her AS.

Does she have any specific difficulties that a night away from home might trigger?.. not sure if making suggestions is helpful or presumptuous.

Is there a particular friend who you are friendly with parents? You could "set up" a sleep over so you as parents are there for a dinner party or something - talk to the parents - it's not something you would want to do with every parent you meet!!

My DS is 8 and has AS. He had his first sleepover at a friends house eariler this year. I was surprised at how well it went-I was expecting a late night phone call to pick him up (he is a very anxious child) but he was fine.
I think we are lucky though in that his friend is very similar to him (not dx but a lot of AS traits).
Is there anyone at all your DD could relate to in the same way?
