1 week in, how are the summer holidays going?

Or more than one week in if you are from Scotland or have dc at private school.

I'm finding it better than I thought, mostly because I had very low expectations. I'm trying to ignore all the "making memories" stuff on social media, trying to keep to a routine and trying to accept that there will probably be a poo smearing incident every day of the summer holidays. The good weather has helped I think as we can spend lots of time in the garden and paddling pool. Not ventured outside the house/garden yet but that's ok. 5 weeks to go.

How old is your dc ellie?

We are one week in too and so far it’s not too bad, except for a new period of ridiculously early waking. We’re off for a weeks holiday soon which I’m looking forward to.

The poo smearing younger ones are 5 and 4. The older ones are 12, 10 and 7. We thought about having a holiday this year but decided it would be a total nightmare. I think it's not going to preschool that has upset my 4 year old. Every morning he asks it he can go to preschool. He is starting school in September but I'm not sure how much he understands. I think he knows he is going to start school but doesn't understand that this means he won't be going to preschool anymore.

You do have your hands full! Things like poo smearing are hard to deal with at home I expect, let alone in a hotel or someone else’s property. Hopefully it’s a phase which passes soon.

Yes, I’ve been telling ds that he won’t be going to nursery any more. I’m hoping he understands this.

Given Ds anxiety has been so high for the last year he has hardly been able to get out he front door I was dreading it but a week in we have managed a day at the seaside with minimal issues and he asked to go to Morrisions yesterday (given his food issues that is unheard of too!)

I don’t know if it’s the medication working or the lack of School pressures but I will take week one as a win!
