Ahhh ds 2.5, developmentally delayed, non verbal, very little comprehension and on the pathway for an asd diagnosis, day to day we are usually ok- we have our routines and the rigidity helps him and me, but with the school holiday (NI) we are really struggling. Dh left with the pram in the boot of the car so we’ve been stuck in and ds was having a baaaaad day
Lots of slapping, head butting, kicking out (received a kick in the jaw while changing his nappy) smearing food all over the place, no eye contact all day and climbing then attempting to jump off every surface in the house.
I am exhausted, drained, feel like weeping but also a bit detached. And the knowledge it will get worse as he grows, it’s so overwhelming 😩

Sorry that you had such a lousy day OP.

One thing I would say is that it may not get worse. As he learns more ways to communicate e.g. speech, Makaton, pointing, Pecs etc he should be less frustrated and the more your learn about his triggers, sensory issues the easier it is to support him.

I hope that you are having a relaxing evening.
