He found a picture of a man washing- and said "washing" - actually it sounded like mummy but he grinned from ear to ear when I said washing (mum said bee-bo which didn't go down well- so he dragged her off to find me to translate).

BTW next baby is a boy so we are booking the SALT from birth

coppertop · 12/08/2004 19:17

I was hoping that this would be your thread. Is it just my imagination or has your ds1 been making lots of progress lately?

You mean you haven't already booked the SALT for ds3???

hmb · 12/08/2004 19:19

Just got back from holiday and that is the best news! Jimjams junior kicks ass!!!!!

By the time you have no, 3 you will be able to do all the SALT in your sleep!

Seriously that is such good news. Give him a big hug from all his 'aunties' on MN.

RexandBen · 12/08/2004 19:22

Brilliant!

aloha · 12/08/2004 19:37

I knew this had to be your thread! Hooray! He's had quite a few breakthroughs recently, it seems (along with breaking the toilet!)
And it sounds as if you scan went well too. I'm so pleased for you.

tamum · 12/08/2004 19:49

Aha! Just back from holiday too (hello hmb!) and what a great way to start . Well done that boy, real, real progress in understanding there.

How's the summer holiday going generally jimjams? Is it as bad as you feared?

Kayleigh · 12/08/2004 19:54

Ahhh that's lovely jimjams. well done to your ds.

sis · 12/08/2004 20:28

WB hmb and tamum- you missed all the thimerosil stuff! Despite being published in a cronky obscure journal that mouse paper has had some effect. Thanks again for sending it to me tamum
ROFL @ the toilet aloha. He's broken a few more things over the last couple of days chucking them down the stairs. So much for the precocious girl Aloha

Holiday started well tamum - but has become rather destructive in the last couple of weeks. Apart from blocked toilets, things flying down the stairs, visitors scratched to pieces he has now added kicking (us!) . He needs more 1:1 but there's only one of me and two boys.

Great news Jimjams How long will it be before he moves onto toilet verbs...
Are you bracing yourself for 'football team' comments?

eidsvold · 12/08/2004 22:53

congrats on the ds1 front and congrats on the next baby boy lucky you were able to find out - our babe decided not to let is see anything like that so we are in the dark - some surprise then!!

suedonim · 13/08/2004 00:39

Well done to your little lad, Jimjams, and congratulaions on your forthcoming family of three sons!

Jimjams · 13/08/2004 08:01

We've made the football team comments ourselves, but then rolled about wondering where on earth to play ds1. His very first verb (never said in response to a picture though) was "kicking" which he would shout very loudly when either kicking or throwing a ball (BIBIC therapy- he never used to be able to do either).

Toilet verbs - oh heck.

Wonderful news JJ, about the baby boy and the verbs! I really think you have the foundations for DS1 to speak as he seems to have the structure, mine really doesn't have that at all unless you count "uh" and pointing!!
Can we suggest some DS3 names? Ivar (Lovaas), Tony (Attwood), Luke (Jackson), Hans (Aspgerger), Andrew (Wakefield), Paul (Shattock) Bruno (!!!???)

Fio2 · 13/08/2004 08:05

Smile ! LOL about booking the salt for ds3, congrats btw Smile

maddiemo · 13/08/2004 08:22

tigermoth · 13/08/2004 08:29

oh jimjams I hoped this thread was started by you!!!

tigermoth · 13/08/2004 08:34

and three boys! missed that piece of news. What a lot's happening your way...

you never know, your ds1 might have absorbed enough information from his SALT to teach ds3 all he needs, if things ever come to that
