Beneficial to collect ASD son from school when he starts in September

Just wondered what others experience of their DC starting school was?

My son already attends nursery for two days a week but I'm worried that school and all the change will be too much for him. He has ASD but will be in main stream school.

I'm thinking of collecting him for the first two weeks while he settles, but I'm also thinking about whether he will need support longer term after school and should I look to change my work hours (if possible!).

Not sure if anyone had any experience of this? Thanks

Should probably say, I do have grandparents that could help with collection if needed or childcare is an option.
