Hi all. Have'nt posted here very often before (though I often lurk!!!) so hope you won't mind the question.
Does anyone have any experience of provision in Bucks? My DS is10 and has ASD. I'd be really grateful for any info, good and bad, as we are contemplating a move to be nearer to family.

Are you looking for a moderate special needs school or school that can with extreme behaviour? A lot depends how having ASD affects your son. I appologise if mentioning this school is woefully unsuitable.

I spent 3 days observing an secondary EBD school called Wendover House in Wendover as part of a teacher training course. The teaching there was truely outstanding. The teachers really cared and brought out the best in the boys.

It has about seventy boys between the ages of 11 and 16. The boys are taught in classes of seven at the most and every class has at least one LSA and one teacher. Infact the classes are often smaller than seven because many of the boys have a poor attendence record.

The school did have some boys with autism, but is primary for children who exhibit extreme behaviour and can't cope with mainstream school.

Thanks frances5.
Currently he is at an MLD school in a small class of children who are all on the spectrum (there are 10 kids in the class including DS). The teaching is shared between two teachers, and they have three LSA's. I suppose I'm looking for something similar in Bucks. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I am sure that Bucks has mld special needs schools. Certainly Hertfordshire has.

Osted has a list of special schools in bucks, but I can't get the link to work.

I have no direct experience of these schools. There are 16 special schools in bucks so I hope you find something suitable
