LEGOLAND & 'Special Needs'.....MrsF is planning a 'trouble free' visit!!!

On Thursday we are off to LegoLand (Windsor)...kindly paid for my my mum as an early (!!!!!) christmas present!

When she booked the tickets and she told them Thomas is disabled (ASD) ....as i told her to do....just to make her use the word' Disabled' as she still chokes on it!...Well....to her suprise they said that as his carer I GO FREE....so she suddenly became interested in him being disabled as it saved her money!

So i looked on the internet for 'Legoland's Disabled Services' ..... and was thrilled when i found this Info.....

"LEGOLAND has a very good Special Needs facilities. An advisory leaflet is available in advance or on arrival at Guest Services.
Carer goes FREE when Special Needs person (Child/Adult) pays entrance admission rate.
This includes the ?Great Value Passes?. Proof of Disability required. For Special Needs rate.
At Guest Services ask for an EXIT PASS for the Special Needs person. This PASS is used for avoiding long queues for the attractions. Only 4 people (Including Special Needs person) can use this service. The Special Needs person has a Red stamp and Non Special Needs people has a black stamp.

At Guest Services ask for a LOST/PARENT label. Use this label for your own mobile number. If the Special Needs person gets lost, LEGOLAND staff can phone you to come and collect the Special Needs person when found."

This all sounds fantastic as thomas has ADHD/AS so cannot 'queue nicely' for long!!!! And last time we went leigh after queing for an hour he would be so axious of the ride that we had to drag him screaming on to it...(pre-realising he was ASD too)...as the alternative was to have wasted the time queing...and for one of us to have 'missed the ride too).

Now for your bit......Do any of you know whether
simply getting DLA (and taking the DLA Award Notification to prove entitlement) is sufficient....as we DO NOT HAVE A BLUE BADGE.
have any of you 'NON BLUE BADGE' carers been there and got this extremeley WONDERFUL service????

That 'LOST' special needs thing sounds fantastic too.

Also as i get DLA too..... does that mean when i get lost.....as i usually do that they will 'look after me too'....I shouldn't joke....but couldn't resist that one!!! Those of you familiar with my previous ramblings will recall that i am rather scatty and will see the humour!!! (i don't want to offend anyone who like me is recioeving DLA and for whom this getting lost would be a REAL issue....I am lucky- i am better than i was - but still remember the fear i had of crowds and getting lost.)

I hope you have a brilliant day Mrs F. If in doubt why not call them and check if that notification would be sufficient. Sorry can't be more help than that.

Do you have a card from Social Services saying that Thomas is on the disability register? That is sufficient.
If not I am sure the DLA letter will be fine.
I have two disabled kids, and one under 3 so I would only have to pay for the two kids with disabilities, really must go this summer.

WE saw a lot of children last week wearing the LOST badges. They are really prominent and there were a lot of staff around to help out too.

BTW, I think a CARER goes free at Disneyland Paris too. So maybe at other places - always worth asking about.

well, we're wondering what would happen with our family. would we only have to pay for one? dd1+2 are both on high rate DLA and dh has a blue badge. so if i went as dh carer, and he went as dd1 carer, and dd2 is under 3, would we only have to pay for me? very confusing i know.

I can just see Tom, Alex and Leigh on a mobile phone saying:

"Yes. That's her.....So where did she run off to this time?....Hmmmmm, I see.....And we just collect her from Customer Services?....Okay....Well thanks for lettting us know. Bye."

I'm 99% certain that the DLA letter will be enough proof. Enjoy the trip, MrsF.

LOL jmb!

It would have been the perfect chance to get some footage for "MrsForgetful: The Movie", MrsF. Anyway, I hope Leigh's better and that you're all busy having a brilliant time at Legoland.
