Our son has HFASD and has struggled terribly socially and with anxiety/panic attacks etc. I have been jumping through hoops for the past six years just to get panel to consider. We find out this week if he has been accepted for assessment. It would make a real difference to him as he is due to transfer to a large 2ndry in September and just having some support is going to help loads. I feel so nervous and waiting for the outcome is agonising. The ed pysch has indicated a +ve outcome and he sits on the panel.

It is good news local authority has agreed to assess, what a relief.

Hey there!! Well done!!! May I ask what info you put in the application? Did the school support you?

Your son sounds like mine and I’m desperate to get him assessed but the school won’t support it. He “copes” at school then comes home and explodes. They can’t see his anxiety at all.

Thank you and well done xx

Make sure they do a thorough assessment, including speech and language and, if relevant, occupational therapy for motor and sensory problems.

You can apply for an EHC Needs assessment yourself.

Apparently the resource allocation panel are meeting today and we will find out by end of week if his plan has been approved. I suddenly feel very anxious about it all.

we have been supported through the process by a lady from Core assets, she filled out all the forms on our behalf, The most important person to support your application is Ed Pysch as their opinion carries a lot of weight. We had to reach crisis point though before school got him involved. Now we have a 20 page Ed Pysch report supporting our need of a plan. I hate all the waiting for the dreaded letter.
