Has anyone had to see an ed pysch during an assessment for a statement?

I'm so relieved that finally the LEA have agreed to assess. But I'm apprehensive that the ed pysch wants to see me during the actual assessment. I've already spoken to her when the school originally applied last year and have sent in several reports myself and yet she has asked to see my ds, his teacher and myself all seperately. Has anyone else had this? Any ideas what she could ask?

I think it's standard practice that the ed psych is asked to reassess when a statement is applied for. It may just be the way your ed psych likes to work that she sees you all separately. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Ed psych saw self and DD1 together for admission to DD1's assessment place. Now we are statementing, she has seen DD1 at school and also talked things through with me on the phone - for about 1/2 hour. She tries to turn up to IEP reviews etc if she is around. I think she is very good - she literally put "needs constant 1:1 supervision" in the last letter I saw from her so this level of interest isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah, we had an Ed Psych visit us at home for 5 hours. She was fab and very knowledgable about CP. One of the first 'proffessionals' to agree with me that Celyn is mentally/cognitvely normal despite her severe physical impairments.
She put in her report everything Celyn needed much to the horror of the LEA I imagine

Please don't worry about it. An EP has to write a report as part of the statutory assessment process and it is completely normal for the EP to want to see parents as part of this assessment. Probably she will want to feedback to you what she saw during her observation in school and also give you the results of any assessments she did. Hopefully this will mean that you won't get any surprises when you get a copy of her report. Also, she will almost certainly want to get your ideas about the problems your child is experiencing and know how you would like your child to be helped. She has to write this up as part of her report. Think of it as another opportunity to get your message across about what you would like to happen.

hiya macwoozy, the EP who asessed DS spoke to me on the phone for about an hour,then asessed him at home for 2.5 hours (as he isnt in school) then phoned me after to go through everything with me but she was a private one they had to bring in and pay as we had gone to tribunal and they had to asess him quick.
her report was very detailed and i imagine the LEA are fuming especially as we are using a lot of her evidence at our tribunal on 20th june.

I'm just so nervous about this day. They obviously feel that after all the evidence complied by the school, myself, SALT and previous ed psych over the last 2 years that it justifies having an assessment done, I can't help but worry that it will all boil down to this one day of interviews. I tend to ramble when I'm nervous and I really don't want to say anything that could ruin his chances.
