My DS(4.0) has been recently diagnosed with ASD and I’d be grateful if anyone could give me recommendations for private therapists in the Cambridge area for:

  • Speech and language therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • ABA (I’ve only just started looking into this)
  • Anything else you’ve found helpful

Thanks.

have a look at www.cambridgeautism.com/Welcome.html - its not a therapist website but the blog of a family of a little boy in cambridge with autism who did very well with aba.

I live in London and use The Owl Centre who operate nationally and have provided excellent therapists for my son. We are considering moving to Cambridge for work so I will watch this with interest. Our child is 3.5 years old. I am very concerned about the lack of provision in Cambridge primary schools- what do you think OP? Is your child verbal? Call The Owl Centre- they have people in. Cambridge. Feel free to PM me.

If you can't find somebody locally you could also try Beam ABA - they are based in London but have a distance service. I have found them not to bear out my fears of ABA (i.e. they are very into providing chances to learn in a natural environment and/or with other children wherever possible, so it doesn't interfere in my DDs life or stop her doing the things she enjoys).
