PJ day at preschool.... Checking I am doing the right thing... (AS)

I found out today that friday at preschool is "PJ Day" - pay £1, go in in pjs.

I am pretty sure DD will freak at the idea of that, I've seen what happens when I send her in the wrong coat.

BUT I am also a bit worried that she will then get there and cry because she is the odd one out.

A friend at school (lovely lovely woman - I have only mentioned my concerns to her about DD once, and she instantly knew what I was worried about!) suggested giving her the option of what to wear, and if she chooses normal clothes, send her with the pjs and her money in a bag so she can change when she gets there if needs be.

It sounds like it should work to me, but I'm still finding my way a bit and don't really want to misjudge the situation.

What do you all think?

I spoke to her today, and she seemed to quite like the sound of a "special day" (and I must make sure her Dora pjs are clean apparently!!)

Things could all change on the day, but thank you for reminding me about sending the alt outfit whatever the decision - I would have forgotten to send the normal clothes.

When ds1 had his first few non-uniform days at school I used to let him choose whether he wanted uniform or not and then take along the other set of clothes in case he changed his mind when he got there. I think he only wanted to change once, and that was when he'd chosen uniform and then got to school to see that no-one else was wearing it. I agree too with lots of repeating something like "Special day. Wear PJs today" (or whatever works best for you).

Well today's the day and she seems excited - will pack her normal clothes too just in case.

DS is also being ordered to wear pjs ... but he has a love of his shoes right now - if he sees us putting them on, then he appears and bashes you with his until you put them on. So I have a 14 month old wandering round in babygro and shoes

It went really well I even managed to convince her to take em off at lunchtime in favour of real clothes
