Hi all! 🤗

Just wondering, if you claim DLA, what have you spent it on to further support your child? We are in process of claim. I'm not sure I've gone into enough specific detail on the form but will add more. Have a mountain (over 3 years worth) of reports/assessments and referrals to enclose too.

We just put ours into the bank account and it's used for mortgage, bills, days out and etc etc the same as all the rest of the money. We don't keep it separately. I have been unable to return to work since ds was born (he's now 5 and has autism and dyspraxia) so with the high rate dla we receive and carers allowance we just about manage to keep going. If you claim tax credits don't forget to tell them about dla as you will get an additional credit - ours is about an extra £100 a week.

Similar to Fairylea my daughter 23 months just started getting middle rate care so I am now able to go from 4 days at work to 3 days. Childcare for her is pretty difficult so have been relying on annual leave, unpaid leave, DH's flexi time and my Mum. Reducing my hours will help greatly... However, we have also just ordered her a bubble tube to the tune of £600 so I guess so far, it has paid for that!
