Any tips or advice appreciated. She adores her but is quite selfish with her and squeezes and cuddles her until it hurts and handles her roughly. It is driving us crazy! She does adore her...

She's hurting the cat? You either supervise them all the time or re-home the cat.

Encourage her just to stroke with a flat, open hand on specific areas? Also teach her to recognise the signals the cat gives when it's had enough.

Even the most tolerant of cats shouldn't be squeezed, it's not fair, plus she may eventually turn on DD. She can't be allowed to pick up or cuddle the cat at all if those things result in her regularly hurting the cat.

Also make sure cat can always get away and has a DD-proof refuge.

Thank you,
We've tried telling her and it's just not sinking in. She absolutely adores her. We do feel we have to watch her and we always supervise them together. The cat will go outside away from DD.

We'll have another sit down chat with her and emphasise not picking her up, gently stroking otherwise poss re-home. Such a shame, we all love her. She is still a kitten really, almost 6 months.
