I am teaching 6th form at an Special school in September. My long term plan for one day just says "develop independent living skills". Wide range of needs including non-verbal and non-ambulant pupils. So far I have:
Cooking
Shopping
Basic budgeting
Using a bus
Washing clothes - washing machine and laundrettes
Using Hoover
Washing up and dishwasher
What else?

Sounds like a good list so far!

A few more suggestions:
Making telephone calls
Going to the post office
Online skills
Going to the bank
Using a cash machine
Asking for and following directions
Asking for help in an emergency and explaining their disabilities
Personal hygiene
Following a calendar/timetable
