Hi my daughter had her cast and snap IV reports back this week, we had meeting with pead.
Summery of the meeting was noticing her ADHD traits are possibly, down to sensory issues. ADHD has been ruled out. Although the cast survey came back negative from school it did high light social difficulties reduced eye contact. Not as interactive as other children her age. Pead pointed out her limited interests to basic baby doll play and obsessive nature in this area.
Reduced eye contact mumbled flattened tone when speaking.
She agreed with me going for the private sensory assessment which is booked for next week.
My daughter has extreme behaviour problems from making herself sick to vilance and threats to kill herself and others.
The pead has explained how difficult it is to diagnose girls. Saying over the years the traits do tend to become more obvious.
Luckily I do have school on side they have noticed much more then the things listed on the cast questionnaire.
Pead suggests to get them to write her reports on all her motor skill issues spatial awareness and visual awareness. This is also things school has noticed.
The peads doing a school assement and has put her through to ados testing.
I suppose I feel worries that as she is a girl she's going to be missed when it's very obvious she has it even the pead said there no denying there's a problem. She also said she needs to rule out global development which I think we both no it's not that. My son is also being assessed for asd too. He's 4.
Is there any mothers out there that have been in this situation that did get the diagnoses and how easy/difficult was it in your experience? Thank you for any responses in advance x

Hi, I don't have any answers for you, but didn't want to just read and run. I'm sure someone will come along that can help. In the mean time big hugs to you.

Thank you very much that's really kind of you.
We had a sensory processing assessment yesterday (private) the therapist is writing a report after she sees her at school but has said she would benefit from a sensory diet. And will put a plan in for us which should help with many types of difficult behaviours like impulse constant need to move and seeking it dangerously. Also her emotions ect. I found it extremely helpful and help with the ados assessments on our area.
This one appointment has helped more then anything so far gives such a better understanding and she puts in the report the type of sensory equipment that will support your child's difficulties.
Thank you x
