Keppra great at controlling seizures but OMG the behaviour!

DD has recently been diagosed with epilepsy along side her other disabilities. She has mainly tonic clonics with a focal onset, although now she is on medication we are noticing she is "smoother" less twitches and quivers and less dropping to the floor. So actually we think there may have been a lot more activity than we realised.

Anyway so the Keppra is great for controlling the seizure but her behaviour is off the scale. She is so tired, arguementative and angry. We have tried adding a B12 supplement but it just seems to be spireling out of control. We are 5 weeks in, i wanted to try 3 months but last week she attacked the dog several times and today she punched - not a slap in angry but a full right hook me in the face. I have called the neurologist for advice but wondering if anyone else has expected Kep rage and what you choose to do. She is 9 by the way

Thanks

Changed medication! We could not live with it; and seizure control was no better than Epilim anyway, so I asked to go back to Epilim!

Interesting, we did discuss Eplim but they aren't allowed to prescribe it to women even girl children here at the moment until more research has been done on the effects during pregnancy. Apparently there are now worries it could affect future reproductive health not just during pregnancy.

Well, pregnancy is out of the question and unlikely with Depo Provera every 10 weeks because of such catamenial epilepsy!

There are plenty more drugs to try though. Ask the consultant what they recommend!

Yeah am waiting on a call back. We are in tomorrow for a 24hr EEG so will hopefully catch up with them then if not before.

Change! A friends DD had exactly the same reaction to Leota which led to social anxiety because she was aware of her behaviour and believed that everyone remembered the bad things.
