Hi all, my DS is six. He's at mainstream school with one to one support. In reception and year two he had the same TA. A lovely lady who brought him on loads. She has been amazing. This year she is going into reception to help with another child, which I can understand but I'm worried how DS will cope.

Anyone else been through this?

Yes in our case it was ok but then was a disaster. The best you can ask for is a good handover which would be new ta shadowing and then doing some mornings with him this year to start to get to know him. We didnt have this and in the end the new ta couldnt cope and reduced her hours. In the end it is often down to personality and willingness to be flexible. You might get someone equally lovely or not. The positive side is that kids shouldnt be too dependent on one person. In my dd special school there are a team of three ta and they all work with the kids on a one to one basis.
