Strategies to cope with bullying

Ds1 has atypical autism. He copes in structured situations but finds unstructured social situations tricky. On the whole, school is fine but we have had a few instances of other children being unkind to him whilst at beavers, cubs and scouts. My concern is that as he gets older there are going to be more instances of when he is unsupervised in social situations, especially at secondary school.

In an ideal world other children would not be unkind but children are cruel. So what can we do to help ds1 deal with this low level bullying. He finds it difficult to talk to other adults about things like this so this is one thing to work on. Any other ideas gratefully received.
