Hi. Recently been accepted for medium rate care and when son is 5 in July, low rate mobility. I know DLA is a gateway to other entitlements. With me In full time employment (39.5 hours per week,) and my wife working 13 hours 1 week and the next time week working 24 (flexes with my shift) can anybody please pass on what other entitlements we maybe eligible for. Also by caiming DLA for my son does that mean he can get access to discount zoo's etc + how does it work?

Having a child with SN is very new to me and I have been a little bit nieve to ask.

if your DW earns less than £110/week, she would also qualify for Carers Allowance (£62/week).

Let tax credits know that your DC is getting DLA. There is a 'disability elements' of the tax credits and tax credit awards (if you are getting tax credits), usually go up with DLA.

usually attractions such as zoos have a reduced ticked price for children with disabilities and usually, the carer gets in free (we use the DLA letter as proof).

Carers allowance - you can deduct childcare and half pension contributions etc from wife's wages which may lower it under the limit.

Tax credits increase with dla - u need to inform them
