Family Fund grant question

Hi, I've just realised I can apply to the Family Fund for a grant towards a family tent and camping equipment. I hadn't realised we were eligible before. They say it can take 3-4 months for a first application. I was wondering if anyone knew if actually they are usually quicker than that? Like when Amazon says delivery takes 5 days and it turns up after only 2 days? Smile

Not sure of the current timescales, but Family Fund tend to give the biggest amount of money for the first grant.
I'd therefore apply for everything you need for ongoing family camping trips.
Eg particularly decent tent, which is easy to put up on your own, camp beds rather than roll mats, etc.

Thanks Js. That's really helpful to know. I'll get on to it. I'm just sorry that it'll be too late for this summer Sad I didn't realise until this week we could do this...

If you meet the family fund criteria, you may well meet other charities criteria?

Is your disabled DC older or younger than 16?

hollibobsy · 06/05/2017 22:45

Younger, he's 12.

He has ASD, and we qualify for some housing benefit, which apparently means we meet the criteria. But I don't know of any other grant-giving charities to apply to. Any suggestions?

When (if!) you have the time, look through this:

It took about 3 months for my ds application to go through. It took longer for his laptop to actually arrive than originally stated by provider (that's not FF responsibility!) so I'd say allow the 3 months and then 2 months for delivery of equipment unless it's a voucher to buy your own!

hollibobsy · 08/05/2017 17:44

Thanks notkiddingme. So I think I ought to put in an application anyway, but borrow a tent this summer as we definitely wouldn't get it in time. Useful to know- thanks!

Op - how long did you application take ?

vickibee · 15/08/2017 12:16

we applied for the first time last October and we were allocated an i pad for DS, the voucher arrived just before xmas but it was mid January 17 before we got the product as their chosen supplier was closed over the festive period. Thrilled none the less
