EHCP - which LEA provides the funding?

Just wondering if anyone else is or has been in this situation.

This is complicated but I will try and explain as best I can

This is about two LEAs.

We live in an area that is under an LEA - let's call this LEA 1.

Our son's GP, healthcare and school is in another LEA - let's call this LEA 2.

We are currently applying for an EHCP under the LEA 1 of where we live. Having spoken to the school (in LEA 2) they are under the impression that when the EHCP is final it will be transferred from LEA 1 to LEA 2. Is this correct? and does this mean that funding will be provided by LEA 2 and no longer anything to do with LEA 1?

It's so confusing...

The LEA you live in is responsible for the EHCP and it's funding (i.e. Lea 1).

Healthcare is actually a totally different matter from education.

Yes, it's definitely the LA where you live that is responsible.
