Jimjams, I met an alsation today who is going to be bred with a golden retriever and her puppies will hopefully be trained as assistance dogs for autism. The programme is full steam ahead, I think the success has taken the Guide Dog people by surprise. They are doing the cross breeding thing to get very physically strong, placid dogs. You were vaguely thinking about them weren't you?

Jimjams2 · 10/03/2007 08:34

I was stleger- but didn't get very far in the UK (despite wannabe giving lots of help and talking to people). They are setting up a scheme with dogs for the disabled, but we're out of the pilot project area.

Having said that ds1 has gone off dogs in a big way- not dogs as such, but fur. Mind you he likes out guinea pigs so that could change.... (assistance guinea pigs now there's an idea).

PeachyClair · 10/03/2007 10:04

Assistance guinea pigs???? HAve you seen that awfulo new kids programme WonderPets on TMF of a morning- scary!!!!!!

We have an assistance mad cat. As in, either you behave and stop screeching or we'll throw the cat at you

(joke! honest! I know what this place si like- they're all too scared to callS S, but the RSPCA will be down here in seconds LOL )
