Help on diagnosis process for possible ADHD and dyslexia?

Hello all,

I'm pretty confused at the moment. DS1 (8 years old) shows signs of ADHD and dyslexia. We've taken him to see a child psychologist who gave us some questionnaires for him/teacher/parents, which also indicated ADHD as a possibility.

I'm now confused as to the route next:

  • She has suggested psychiatrist for ADHD, and only after that, possibly educational psychologist for dyslexia
  • We could do the dyslexia assessment now with an educational psychologist, plus visual stress test (also an issue) with optometrist, then ADHD separately
  • One educational psychologist I spoke to said she could do both the ADHD and dyslexia assessments together

How does testing for the two conditions relate, is there a correct order, and can they be done independently or should they be co-ordinated in any way? I'm pretty keen to get things moving quickly but also want good quality assessments.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for good specialists in N or C London please PM me.
