I'm pretty confused at the moment. DS1 (8 years old) shows signs of ADHD and dyslexia. We've taken him to see a child psychologist who gave us some questionnaires for him/teacher/parents, which also indicated ADHD as a possibility.
I'm now confused as to the route next:
- She has suggested psychiatrist for ADHD, and only after that, possibly educational psychologist for dyslexia
- We could do the dyslexia assessment now with an educational psychologist, plus visual stress test (also an issue) with optometrist, then ADHD separately
- One educational psychologist I spoke to said she could do both the ADHD and dyslexia assessments together
How does testing for the two conditions relate, is there a correct order, and can they be done independently or should they be co-ordinated in any way? I'm pretty keen to get things moving quickly but also want good quality assessments.
