SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Please please if you haven't already seen my thread about potty training ds3 under nappies/potty training and the one in chat, please come over to it and help me - I am despairing right now and really desperately need some advice. [sad]

saw you thread in chat.
It took me a long time to realise how dd's cp affected her toileting.
sounds like he has big issues with it all. no doubt he will get there but when he is ready.
I would relax and put him in pull ups. let him lead the way.

(((((((((((((((queen eagle)))))))))))))))))))))

Have just read both threads and read them fully.

Would concur with the counsel made on those threads for DS to go back on the pull ups and let him develop in his own time. Don't make your life any harder than it already is.

My son only came out of pullup pants the summer before he started full time schooling.

Be kind to yourself.

Not looked yet but just about to but if you are having dificulties, stop and take a break from it and start again later.

I posted on the other thread. I think if it's got to the point where it's causing a lot of stress then it's time to take a break. I know it's hard when you get those "Why is your 4yr-old still in nappies?" looks but I think it's time to take a step back from it.

Good luck. xx

Difference here with ds3 is that he has been in pants for a year. Going back to pull ups would be the easiest option BUT he is resiting putting one on atm. I tried earlier and he went into meltdown.

Since he has been calmer, I have spoken to him and he says wee goes in the loo etc etc. Spoke to continence nurse who was very helpful. Got to get over the fact that ds doesn't want to wear a pull up.

Cant find other thread (am newb). My ds was dry during the day, but not at night for a year. He also would not do a poo unless he had a nappy on (would rather do it in his pants!) Maybe I am mean.. one day I told him we didn't have any more nappies. He was upset (very briefly), but the next day was doing it all on the toilet. He has only wet the bed a handful of times since then, which was about 10 months ago.
